The Daily Juggle
Early mornings kick off with multitasking — getting two little ones dressed and out the door for school and nursery. Then, it’s straight into casting mode: handling last-minute requests, checking availability, confirming bookings, and keeping productions running smoothly.
Like many of you, my work doesn’t stop when the ‘official’ day ends. There are curveballs, unexpected changes, and always something new to tackle. If you’ve ever had a late-night message from me, now you know why!
On top of that, I’m training for the London Marathon and fundraising for Children with Cancer UK. Fitting in runs means early starts before the kids wake up, late-night training sessions, or quick lunchtime miles. Weekends? Not for rest — filming is still in full swing, and long training runs now fit in around everything else.
The Power of Resilience
Working in this industry has taught me a lot, but the biggest lesson? You can’t control everything — but you can control how you respond.
SAs know this better than anyone. Some days, you’re booked back-to-back; other times, you’re waiting for the next gig. Last-minute changes, long days on set, early call times — it’s all part of the job. But adaptability, patience, and persistence keep you moving forward.
Marathon training has only reinforced this for me. Some runs feel effortless, others are brutal — but I push through, knowing that consistency and mindset make all the difference.
Why It Matters
Like a film set, a marathon is a collective effort. Every role, every person, every moment matters. Whether you’re a booker securing the right SA for a scene or an SA bringing a production to life — you’re part of something bigger.
So, if you’re having a tough day, remember that persistence pays off. Whether it’s sticking with this industry, pushing through a long shoot, or chasing that next opportunity — keep going. You’ve got this.
Support the Cause
On April 27th, I’ll be running the London Marathon for Children with Cancer UK, a cause close to my heart. You can donate via my fundraising page
And I won’t be doing it alone — Jay from Team CC is also taking on the challenge. Wish us luck!
