What you need to join

How to be a Supporting Artiste

Almost anyone can be a Supporting Artiste, but it’s not easy or for everyone. You don’t need any acting experience to get started, but these are the basic requirements:

Age:
You can register with the Casting Collective if you are 16 years old and have completed your GCSE’s. There is no upper age limit.
Legally able to work in the UK:
We check all our artists are legally permitted to work in the UK by verifying their passport IDs, visas, and proof of right to work documents. We also provide DBS certificates for our artists upon request.
Organised:
Keep on top of your Organiser and make sure photos and measurements are all up to date.
Reliable:
Turn up early on set, be organised for bookings, check where you need to go and be prepared. See studio directions directory.
Flexible:
Work can be sporadic, and at very short notice, Filming days can change too.
Professional:
Approach the work with professionalism. You are a crucial part of the team for the day. It’s important to listen, observe, and follow instructions precisely.

After speaking with other SAs on sets, hearing their stories about their agents I realised I had made the right choice.

How it Works

Being on set in a film or TV Production

Register as a Supporting Artiste with Casting Collective, and you’ll have opportunities to work in film, TV drama, Commercials and pop videos including stand-in, walk-on, or featured roles too.

The Booking Process

Availability:
You’ll receive job offers via email. Confirm your availability for specific dates and agree to important details like location, rate of pay, and any other special requirements.
Pencilled:
Once you confirm availability you’re pencilled in for the job. You may then be ‘heavy pencilled’ which means the production has shortlisted you.
Released or Booked
If you’re not selected by the production, you’ll be released promptly via email or text. If you are Booked, Congratulations! You’ll receive confirmation details by email the night before the job.

Filming

On Set:
Arrive on time and sign in with the 2nd Assistant Director (2nd AD) or Crowd AD. This ensures smooth payment processing. Follow directions from the AD regarding your tasks, including visits to hair, makeup, or costume. Always ask crew members for help if needed.
Catering:
Catering is normally provided on filming days. At studios, you might need to buy meals or arrive early for breakfast. Only go to catering when instructed by an AD.
Wrap:
At the end of filming, sign out with the AD to confirm your work hours. Keep records of your work until payment is processed.

Payment

Getting Paid:
Ensure your bank details and passport copy are up-to-date in your organiser for timely payment. Payment typically takes 6-8 weeks after the job, sometimes longer. Registered artistes can make a pay enquiry.
Cancellations:
Unfortunately, due to filming schedules, your shoot may be postponed, rescheduled, or cancelled. If this happens we will ensure we notify you as soon as possible. Refer to our Terms & Conditions for cancellation fee policies.
